Music is time: always moving, forever changing, never the same. Draw a bow across a string; breathe into an instrument; teach a child to sing; give life to sounds written centuries ago; discover why the sounds were written; help to manage a cancer patient’s pain, compose your own song. These are tasks that students and faculty in the music department take on every day.

The music faculty in the Caine School of The Arts teaches students to perform, to teach, to heal, to understand, to create, and, with the other departments in the School, they seek to celebrate the interrelationships among the arts in history and culture.
