Art can stimulate us, challenge us, inspire us, and most important of all, put us in touch with our humanity. Art can bring to the forefront our innermost feelings and expand our vision by taking us outside ourselves. Art can teach us to think and feel in different ways. It seems especially important for students in this information age to have the opportunity to participate, to observe, to engage in and to experience the joy and majesty of art in all its forms.

The Art Department in the Caine School of the Arts serves as a regional center providing cultural experiences and the opportunity to develop visual arts competency for our students and the surrounding communities. While isolated physically in a mountain valley in the west, visiting artists from all over the world work with our faculty to provide an understanding of art and the making of art based on universally understood art concepts. Regardless of whether a student studies commercial or fine arts, he or she can be sure that the Art Department at Utah State will educate, challenge, and enrich their artistic lives.
